Corolla real estate is on the northern end (MAP) of the Outer Banks Barrier Islands. The Whalehead Club, Corolla Light, Ocean Hill, Ocean Sands, Buck Island, and Pine Island are a few subdivisions many are familar with. New homes for sale construction homes on vacant lots were built at an incredible rate with the demand for new residential investment property in the late 90's and early 2000's. There have been many new commercial properties developed and a variety of town services added to Corolla over the years making this area an attractive and convenient vacation/second home destination. Although oceanfront homes and sound front land exists in most of the communities, you will be hard-pressed to find a canal front property in the southern part of Corolla. If you are in the Carova Beach area, you will find some nice canal front lots with bulk heading with easy access to sound fishing and play in the Currituck Sound. To date there are no paved roads today, but you will still have the luxury of electric, cable and phone services. The ever popular wild horses of Corolla still roam freely in this area. These horses were brought over by the Spaniards in the 1500's and are managed by the locals. Corolla also boasts the "four wheel drive area" where you can cruise down the beach in your 4x4, & park right up to the Atlantic Ocean!
